Introducing Our New Cabin Fever Series

In March and April, the Woodstock History Center will hold a special weekday "Cabin Fever" series that will consist of three programs.

On Thursday, March 21, at 1:00 pm, Matt Powers and Jennie Shurtleff will host a slideshow that features some of their favorite images from the History Center's extensive photo collection.  If you've ever wondered what Woodstock looked like in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, you won't want to miss this program, especially since refreshments will be served!

The second program in the series is a writing workshop with author Charlotte Donaldson that will be held on Thursday, March 28, from 9 am - 12 noon. (Participants may return and continue to work from 1-4:30 if they wish.) This workshop is designed for people who are brainstorming information so they can write a memoir, currently working on an autobiography or family history and are looking for content, and those who would simply like to take a stroll down memory lane. All participants will receive a complimentary copy of the book Life's Workbook, a resource for helping to brainstorm and organize information. Refreshments will be served. This program is free, but advanced registration is required as space is limited.

The third program in the Cabin Fever Series is a writing workshop led by Yvonne Dailey. Yvonne is an author, workshop leader, professor, award-winning journalist for the Boston Globe, and the director of the Green Mountain Writer's Conference.  In Yvonne's workshop, she will share strategies for weaving historical, scientific, and cultural information into writing, whether it's fiction, nonfiction, memoir, or poetry. Following a discussion of the techniques, there will be a chance to do writing from a prompt, and then the share your work with the group. As with the writing workshop on March 21,  pre-registration is required.

All programs in the "Cabin Fever" series are free. To register for either of the writing workshops, please contact Jennie Shurtleff at 802-457-1822 (Ext. 2).

We hope you will be able to join us for this fun and educational mini-series.
