Fire, such as the fire that destroyed the hotel at the intersection of Elm and Central Streets in 1867, was one of the forces that shaped the town of Woodstock.

Historic Happenings: New Walking Tour of Woodstock

On select dates in August, the Woodstock History Center will offer walking tours of the village that focus on some of the fascinating people and events that have had an impact on Woodstock's history. Topics covered will include such things as Woodstock's vampire folklore, the art of Ivan Albright, Woodstock's race track, the movies Dr. Cook's Garden and Ghost Story, and the scandalous Wentworths.

This walking tour is free for Woodstock History Center members and $10.00 for non-members. Space is limited on each tour, so advanced registration is necessary. To sign up for a tour, please email Jennie Shurtleff at education@woodstockhistorycenter.org and let her know what date you are interested in attending and whether you are a member of the Woodstock History Center.
